Word 2000 Shutting Down Without Warning

Computer running Windows 98 2nd Edition.
Office Professional 2000 installed.
Has been working prefectly, but recently Word switches off without warning resulting in a reboot of Windows. This only happens with Word. It does not seem to be a reaction to using any particular file. I suspect that it is a hardware problem as Office has been reinstalled. Any ideas?
