Word 2000 Styles Driving Me Crazy

Hello Word experts:
What makes a style that I’ve defined as Regular font display as Bold? Every time I apply the style, the text displays as Bold!!

Why can I not invoke Restart Numbering on a list? I click on Restart Numbering and the numbers flicker then return to the original number.
