Word 2002 Formatting Issue

Microsoft can’t answer this question – I’m hoping someone at Tech Republic can…

In Word 2002 when trying to format a paragraph as justified, it looks okay on screen, but when printed, shows odd spaces in between some characters. This only happens when justified. I checked with Microsoft and their solution is to change the settings to “do justification like Office 97”. I do this and it works most of the time – but not all of the time. I still get these spaces. Does anyone know how to fix this?!
