Word 2002 Question

By galahad04 ·
I am looking for a way to change the settings in Word 2002 so that when a user opens a particular Word document, the "Web" Word toolbar (which you wouldn't normally see unless you specifically toggled it on) will load by default. In other words, how to change the settings in Word so that the Web toolbar displays automatically without intervention from the user? (I only need to apply these custom settings to one special Word document, not all of them, if this helps.)

You can use a macro:

Sub AutoOpen()
CommandBars("Web").Visible=True
End Sub

and

Sub AutoClose()
CommandBars("Web").Visible=False
End Sub

There is a possibility which does not involve any macro [at least not made by the user]
Open your special document. Show the Web toolbar.
Right click somewhere in the gray area above for customize? [Toolbars]
Add a new toolbar, only available in your special document.
Press CTRL and keep it pressed. Drag each button from the Web toolbar to your new toolbar.
[By holding CTRL constantly down you copy the buttons]
Close the customize screen. Save your special document. Close it. The next time somebody opens it the extra toolbar [with all the Web buttons] will show.
It is some work [about a few minutes once you understand the trick], but it will give what you want without the risk of all those alarming messages there are macros in your document.
Good luck
