Word 2003 and Vista Business

By richardbruce10 ·
Intermittantly when some users open documents stored on network drives, Word opens then as Read-only (doesn't prompt, it just opens them as read-only like the attribute has been set). None of the docs are actually read only and if you close them and open them again they are fine! No pattern to this at all! Has anyone else seenthis and more importantly does anyone know how to sort it out??

I'm having the same problem with Word 2003 and Vista. It is a network drive also, and if you open a doc it may or may not be read only. Closing and reopening it gets rid of read only, but it may change back later.
My boss thinks it because people are accessing those files but it's not. I'm getting frustrated!

See if this helps

Try running RegMon for Windows v7.04.
Example: The include filter "Winword*Windows" would have Regmon only show accesses by Microsoft Word to keys and values that include the word "Windows".
