Word 2003 Settings Wiped

By BorgInva ·
Every time I open Word 2003, the settings are all reset to crappy ones. Take AUTOCORRECT. I never use it. I hate how it thinks it knows better than me. I declick every box every single time I open Word. It used to just keep the settings I give it. No more. Even other settings in OPTIONS revert back to their defaults. How do I fix this from changing back?

I've seen this before when the Windows account being used doesn't have the rights to edit the files in the folder Word is installed in, or the portion of the registry that these settings are stored in (don't remember which one of these it was).

Try changing the security settings on the folder Word is installed in.

Interesting enough that helped. I turned off the entire folder from being partially READONLY.
