Word 2007 - In use error when saving document

By It's IT not do it for you ·
Regardless if it is an existing file or a document just created, as soon as this user tries to save the document she gets an in use error. It is only in Word and doesn't appear to matter which file format. If she browses to the directory where she was trying to save the file, there is a blank document there by that name. It doesn't matter if she saves to the desktop or to the network, and no one else has reported this issue. Any ideas?

Rights

Is she saving from a laptop? I'm just wondering if something to do with off-line folders and rights. Have you tried Excel to see if it does the same thing?

Clean up temp files, check for valid auto-recovery location

by robo_dev In reply to Word 2007 - In use error ...

I've seen this happen if the auto-recovery files are being saved to the same directory as the user data directory.

Word does a little juggling act between the temp file, the auto recover file, and the actual doc file.

Make sure these three sets of files have properly defined locations.
