Word 97 runtime error

By KittyM ·
"Run-time error '1200' Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere (c:\program files\....\ End debug"
I tried to delete the template but was unsuccessful since it said "Access denied"
I tried removing and reinstalling Word97 but the problem still persists.

First off, are you double clicking the Word icon in the Task bar? If so, try single click.
Secondly, rename all the and files as normal.bad. You need to
change the extension to ensure that they don't cause problems. Whilst in
Explorer, search for *.tmp, ~*.do? and ~*.wbk files and delete them all.
Make sure that your temporary folder is empty (this is Windows/Temp in most
OSs, except Win2K where it will be in Documents and Settings/
Username/Local/Temp). Then runa full Scandisk or CheckDisk.
If this doesn'y fix the problem there are several other siloutions I can offer but this is the main culprit, let me know.

I think you are getting the access denied becuase word is running. Make sure word is not running before you rename the file.
