Word and Spell Check

I’m using Word 2000 SR-1. I’ve encountered a document emailed to me from China that has numerous spelling and grammar errors, however for some reason word is not checking any of these errors. If I type within the document and make a mistake it will catch it however it will not catch any of the existing mistakes.

Does anyone have a suggestion on this? I’ve made sure I’m using the English dictionary, made sure all the Spelling & Grammar options are set correctly, but still no dice.

It won’t catch words like aduit = audit or directro = director

Please help
