Word document loosing content changint to ascii characters

We are loosing contents in word document. Even when it is saved at end of day in the morning half the document has changed to ascii characters. Sometimes when the document is open and the user has gone to get a cup of tea the document has changed to ascii characters. bjbj?? is the content of one of the files. Any help will be appreciated
