Word session

I have a problem with internet explorer. All my client uses win98 2nd ed, IE5.5sp2 Word 2000. When they are on their intranet site and open a word document, it opens in the Internet explorer window, with the word 2000 tools, when they use the send page by email nothing happens, I have tested this on all the machines and non of them work, is there a work around or something I can install ??
