Works converter 6.0 problem

At my college, on two campuses, we find that the Works 6.0 converter downloaded from Microsoft (filename: wp6rtf.exe) is not actually letting us open Works 6 documents. In fact, Works 6 is not even showing up as a choice in the “files of type” dialog under Word’s Open menu.

We are running Windows XP machines with Office XP. Any help greatly appreciated.
