Workstation Lockdown

By sylvain_perrier ·
My network is a mix of Windows NT 4.0 and Windows XP Pro Workstations and the users are irregularly saving their files to the file server. Aside from giving the notice, how do I prevent them from saving files locally?

Thanks in advance Sylvain.

You could configure the XP machines to reroute all files that are saved in my documents to a particular folder on the server.

Other than that I do not know of anyway.

Use GPO's if you have AD running

by ginman In reply to dont give local drive per ...

The problem with this is they have permissions to My Documents because it is located in their profile on the local box. If you are running AD you could use a GPO that can re-direct My Documents to where you want it to go.
