Would you answer this for 2 points?

By robbinsr ·
Can someone please inform me of why their are a majority of users who feel the need to be stingy on the points. I hold on to my points in order to tempt a person into taking on my situation and possibly solving it, but when you see a question with 0 - 20 points offered. Thats a joke. You get points for answering polls. Can you answer a couple polls to knock your points up to at least 25? Personally I feel thats still an insult, but its better than 1 point.

Would you answer this for 2 points?

I remember a series of "what is xxx" questions with abbreviations in place of the xxx. These questions were worth 5 points. Most of the answers were the words that defined the abbreviation, followed with a comment that "that's all you get for 5 points."

You can take this as children getting answers for questions. You can take this as adults being stingy. you can look at the whole points issue and rejections/acceptions of answers as a insult.... but ultimately, none of it matters.

Help where you can.... or don't help. Learn by doing... or don't learn. Your future depends on you. How you see things also depends on you. Make a choice for the better.... and forget the people who bug you. Put your enegeries into positives, for you and for others. Nothing else matters.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried Piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off! Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!

Heck, you get 50 points a day just for logging in. But I've answered 5 point questions. It depends on if I know the answer or not. I like to help people, I'm not going to spend a lot of MY time researching something for 2 points.

Just came back to this question today. I don't think I've ever seen a zero point question here. I wouldn't answer a zero point question. But at least those people are honest, unlike the ones who offer points and then reject every answer.

Note to jr_IT-guy: What are you doing, going through all the old open q's with only one answer? I been getting a lot of points from old questions I had answered lately after you added an answer and woke up the auto-close function.

jr_IT-guy: Good one on that 0 point question.

I was just surprised myself to get a notif that my answer had been rated; I saw the question was dated August, but it had been auto-closed, then I saw it was August 2000. I had to laugh.

Re: XP. Doubt if I'll be able to help. My outfit is still fiddling and diddling about moving from NT to 2000 and Office 97 to 2000.

If you know an answer, why not? But there are two good reasons in previous answers ? the kids or stupid questions, or if I need to research for some time to find an answer why do I do it just for 2 points? If it?s a game let us considering the rules. Just some kind of human psychology, I think.
