wrie and execute batch file

I am familiar with some aspects of computer. I am good at excel and excel programming. I would like to know how to write batch file, where and how to execute that file.

  Open notepad
  write your batch code
  save file as name.bat (make sure Save As Type is All Files)
  double click it to launch it
