    X Server Problem in RedHat 6.2

    I am installed RedHat 6.2 Linux. I am having SiS 6215 AGP (1Mb) Display Card
    I am Selected the Proper Driver while installing the OS. But the X Server is not
    starting. I have tried all possiblities. How to start the X Server.. Pl help in this

      You weren’t very detailed in you question, but I will try to help. First, the init level needs to be set to 5. Check the inittab file and make sure the default level is 5. Init 3 is commandline and init 5 is X. Type “init 5” from the command line to find out if X will start.
      If that doesn’t work, double check your config. Try running “Xconfigurator” from the command line and test the configuration after you set it up to make sure it works.

        I have tried all the possiblities
        Even though the init level is 3, it will
        go to command line first…Correct.
        But i have tried with Xconfigurator to
        give the Display Card & monitor Driver
        details, while its trying to start the
        X server from the Xconfigurator, the following error is comming.

        “Your display card ram is bad…”
        but i have changed the card also (SIS6215 – Physically) what could be the
        probelm…help me out
