Question

Locked

XP blue screen

By fsamec ·
I get this when my laptop fails to boot.

Technical information stop: 0x00000024 (0x83BD4880, 0xC0000102, 0,00000000)

Anyone have any ideas? I have talked to the "experts" at HP but nothing they suggested worked.

A boot loader halt error. Usually it means your NTFS.SYS is shot. That's the driver that allows XP to read your hard drive.

Here's a pretty good doc on how many you can recover/diagnose it.

Good luck

Thanks but it is not the problem

I am able to get in the BIOS and run the disk diagnostics located there. I ran both the quick and more thorough versions of it. Both passed. I am to the point that I will have to buy the recovery disks from MicroSoft. Luckily they cost less than $16, delivered. At this point I can't think of anything else to do. I am a strong believer in backup so I won't loose anything.
