AAARRRGG Please help me!!!
I put a xp pro machine on an existing p2p network of about 20 computers – all flavors of windows, 9x, 2k NT (none of them servers) and they can all see each other in nethood. The xp can only see the NT classmachines, none of the 9x machines. I can ping the 9x machines from xp using their IP address, doesn’t work using netbios names. This eliminates a couple of things: the workgroup name is correct, the physical network is OK. Now, Ive read some articles about futzing with lmhosts, but that will not get the 9x machines into nethood. How can I get this xp machine to behave like all the other win machines? To have all computers on the net show up in nethood? (or the xp equivalient).
I’ve already installed netbeui on xp, no help.
Any ideas??
