when trying to install Office 2000, my new XP Home doesn't accept the disk with the install. What can I do, I NEED the excel and other office products in Office.

When you say "doesn't accept the disk with the install" what exactly do you mean?

Its possible that "autorun" has been disabled on your PC... that means that you wont be automatically prompted to install software when you insert the disk.
If that's the case, then you need to initiate the install manually by using the windows explorer to browse to the files on the CD and look for a setup.exe You double click that to start the installation.

Of course, if you're having problems with your CD drive, then you'll need to post back here what has happened.

Did it work in the past?
Does it give any messages when you insert the disk?
Does the drive "spin-up" - ie. The light flash on it as though its reading the disk, but then nothing?
