xp home network “access denied”

I have networked my laptop and desktop and can-not access program files folder,windows folder.or documents settings folder, any other folder is ok.Iam using NTFS file system. I get a message access denied ,Iam the computer’s admns. and the only one who “plays on it. its my big boys toy” I have called Dell’s support but they want $29.00 an hr. to solve the problem isn’t that a ….! Both my computers are “Dell” running xp the new Dell 8250 and Inspirion 7000 laptop!
