XP Logon Slowdown with 2000 server

By jbk1009 ·
I have read where DNS is the culprit. But my issue is that our DHCP servers are handing our the DNS for external DNS servers so that we may access teh internet. How can I configure so that we can log in in a more reasonable time frame?

DNS is tha backbone of AD.

All your local machines should be pointing to the AD DNS server. Then your AD DNS server will either be configured to forward all requests to another DNS server, or has root hints installed and it does the queries for your local machines.

If your local machines are pointed to a NON-AD DC or a DNS server that does not have entries in it's table for your local zone, then things will be slow.
