XP pro setup problems

Been triing to setup XP pro. IT goes through all the motions. loading files, accepting the EULA, formatting NTFS, the partioning,loading files, then the automatic restart. When it restarts, however, it starts the whole process over again. this computer is a HP Pavilion 553X. I’ve been able to load the OS from another computer to the HD and it works fine. Thinking the HP is toast.
