Well first thing is you need a DVD Drive fitted

If you already have a DVD Drive fitted all that should be required is to enter the BIOS and change the Boot Order to first Floppy then Second Optical Drive and finally HDD. If you don’t have a floppy remove this from the list of the Boot Order and just use the last 2 as the first and second option.

When you exit BIOS you need to save the changes to have then take effect and on the next boot you can boot off the Burnt Disc.

But weather you can load any form of Linux without first wiping the HDD is a different story.

Windows uses 1 Partition for it’s System where as Linux uses 3 One for the Kernel, 1 for the Data and 1 for the Swap File. If you attempt to install Linux on the existing Windows Partition you may have some problems.

You should use a wiping utility like Boot & Nuke available here

Darik’s Boot and Nuke – DBAN

To wipe the HDD before attempting to install any form of Linux.
