You just knew she was going to be named 'Barbie'

By CharlieSpencer ·
Here's another answer to old riddle, "How can you tell if a blonde has been using your computer?" Widely syndicated, I chose to link to the Washington Post's web site:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/11/11/AR2008111101088_pf.html

Dear Heloise: Here's a hint I use. I keep an ADDRESS BOOK near my computer. I put the names, in alphabetical order, of the Web sites I frequent. Then I put my logon name and password next to the addresses of my favorite sites.

Sometimes I change my password; I mark it out with typewriter correction fluid. -- Barbie Zobian, Wyomissing, Pa.

So any bets?

On how long it takes for someone to get a hold of that address book and all her passwords?

They actually published that as a "good" hint?

And to think that there are people that believe

That end users don't need continuing education on personal
security!

Cue identity theft in 3... 2...

I bet Barbie is blonde too

Don't take people named 'Barbie' seriously. Ever!!

Really, this has to be a joke on someone's part. Either 'Barbie' sent it in to see if it could get past the editors, or Heloise is a sadist, and wants to inflict damage upon her reader base. I've seen 5 year olds with better computer security savvy than this!

Heloise and Barbie fell from the same tree.

Fortunately, their falls were cushioned by the vacuous mush they call craniums.

Dear Heloise

Dear Heloise: Here's some more money saving and time saving tips to pass to your readers:

Chewing Gum: This can be an expensive luxury sometimes, especially during the credit crunch. I've found I can save pounds by using a rubber band and some toothpaste, Just as chewy, but when the taste disappears, I just add more toothpaste! Hmmm, minty fresh!

House Carpets: Carpetting an entire house is massively expensive if you have a large house. But no longer. Just tape two squares of carpet to the bottom of your slippers, that way you'll have the feel of luxurious carpet under your feet whatever room you're in!

Morning Tea: Waiting for a kettle to boil in the morning can sometimes be a drag. Why not pop a couple of tea bags in the hot water tank before you go to bed. And in the morning, just fill your cup from the hot water tap. Voila! Instant tea! This tip can also use instant coffee, for the coffee lovers out there.

Loved that

That is one of the dumbest things I've seen this week. Aside from the security issues, I wonder if anyone would clue her into the use of favorites/bookmarks.

Actually, my manager doesn't understand this either. He browses the web, including frequently visited sites, by using Google. Even if he knows the web address, he searches it rather than putting it into the address bar or using a favorite shortcut.
