Apple on Tuesday announced that it is boosting the processing power of its MacBook Pro and MacBook lineup of notebooks. The Pro line is also gaining Apple’s Multi-Touch technology. rn

rnMacBook Pro is now available with Intel Core 2 Duo (Penryn) processors that are built using a 45-nanometer technology. The processors run at up to 2.6GHz, and the laptops come with up to 6MB of cache memory, 4GB of RAM, and a hard drive with up to 250GB of storage space. rnrn

The price of the new MacBook Pros will start at $1,999.

With Apple’s Multi-Touch technology, the trackpad allows you to “pinch, swipe, or rotate to enlarge text, advance through photos, or adjust an image,” according to the Mac maker. rn

rnIn this example, you need to press the Control key and move your fingers on the touch pad to zoom in and out.

The MacBook Pro weighs in at 5.4 pounds.

The MacBook Pro is not quite as thin as the MacBook Air, which measures 0.76 inches at its thickest and 0.16 inches at its thinnest.

Time Capsule

Time Capsule

Apple’s Time Capsule will also be available for the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros. Available in 500GB and 1TB models for $299 and $499, respectively, Time Capsule, which works with Time Machine in OS X Leopard, provides automatic backup for the new notebooks.
