Computex: Intel shrinks Atom tablets, netbooks (images)

At Computex Tuesday, Intel co-general manager of the Intel Architecture Group Dadi Perlmutter showed his company was giving new power to the Atom chip with “Pine Trail” mobile dual-core and “Oak Trail” processors optimized for tablets and netbooks. The updated chips will allow manufacturers to build thinner devices.

Perlmutter also disclosed the razor-thin “Canoe Lake” innovation platform – a dual-core netbook measuring in at 14 millimeters – about 50 percent thinner than any other on today’s market.
