ntGoogle went public (via SearchEngineLand.com) with claims that Microsoft is copying Google search results with Bing. Google has provided ZDNet with examples of its “Bing Sting” that we’re presenting here. Mary Jo Foley has more in her blog.

ntIn this screenshot, Google created a random word “mbzrxpgjys” that had no legitimate matches on Bing or Google searches. Then it created its own “honeypot page” with Research in Motion at the top of the page. Within a couple of weeks Research in Motion began appearing at the top of Bing searches.

ntIs this more widespread? Here are search results for “mbzrxpgjys” from blekko, a search engine that debuted in Nov., 2010. The latest controversy ranks highest but Research in Motion comes up as No. 2.
