    This ATI Rage128 video card is equipped with a specialized, home-made heatsink designed to be filled with dry ice. The dry ice will keep the card’s core extremely cold, enabling this IT enthusiast to seriously overclock the card–or so he thought.

  • Now that is a cold GPU (note the frost). Unfortunately, this card was damaged before the mod.

  • Another shot of the dry ice cooling setup that never worked. The entire case is turned upside down so that the GPU would be facing upwards and the copper tube would hold the dry ice.

  • The Styrofoam plates shield against any denatured alcohol splashing onto the circuits. The copper pipe was to hold approximately 3ml of denatured alcohol, which dry ice isn’t cold enough to freeze, along with the dry ice. This would improve thermal conductivity purposes.
