Gallery: Boeing 787 prepares for maiden flight

The first passenger flight of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner is expected to take off on Tuesday at 10:00 AM PT (weather permitting). The new jet will include one very interested passenger – SmartPlanet’s John Dodge. John will have a full report and photos soon after landing.
Boeing is putting their new jet through its final testing phases. Here it’s taking a taxi test where it reached 150mph enabling the pilots to lift the nose off the ground.

Structural tests were concluded in May, 2009 after the aircraft was subjected to its maximum load which is the same as the aircraft experiencing 2.5 times the force of gravity.

787 Dreamliner made its world debut July 8, 2007 during a one-hour ceremony held at Boeing’s Everett, Wash., facility. At this time, the 787 was expected to be fully operational in May 2008.
