Gallery: What’s new in IE 8?

  • Microsoft says that the new Internet Explorer 8 browser, available for download on Thursday, is faster, more secure, and easier to use. It also adds a new private browsing feature.\n\n

  • The address bar provides suggestions.

  • Tools for developers.

  • New highlight and tab colors.

  • IE8 includes a feature that keeps your browsing private – sort of.

  • IE8 will block your personal information being sent to certain Web sites.

  • IE8 will provide search suggestions (right).

  • The browser will automatically block sites that have been identified as being unsafe.

  • With Web slice, you can keep up with frequently updated sites through the new Favorites bar. When a site that you are tracking updates, a green icon will appear in the upper-right corner of your browser.
