Nokia N85 lineup
The Nokia N85 is the first Nseries device to use an OLED display and it looks FANTASTIC. The N85 may be one of the best Nokia S60 devices and should replace the N95 as the most popular Nokia device in 2009. All I needed to see to convince me to purchase the device was the OLED display, but there is a ton more packed into the device too. Take a look at several photos of the device as I start working on my full review.nnThe Nokia N95, N96, N85, and N81 8GB.
Open Nseries devices
Here are the four devices with the keypads exposed, showing the size cmparison.
Nokia N85 on the Nokia N96
The N85 is quite a bit narrower than the N96. They both have similar form factors and features.
Front bottom of the N85
There are send, end, and quick launch buttons on the bottom around the directional pad. The left and right soft keys, menu button, and clear button appear with a white backlight when functional. The front panel is completely flat.
Top of the N85
Along the top is the microUSB port, 3.5mm headset jack, and power button. The great thing about the microUSB port is that it is used for charging as well as for syncing the device.
Right side of the N85
The extreme ends of the N85 are where you will find the stereo speakers. There are volume keys, a lock button, and a camera capture button between the speakers.
Camera and lens cover
There is a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and two LED flash lights. A sliding lens cover keeps the lens protected and when you open it the camera application launches.
Upper left of the N85
There is a lanyard opening and externally accessible microSD card slot.
Open lens cover
The lens can be seen when you slide the metal cover open.
Back of the N85
The back is similar to other newer Nseries devices with the lined design.
Keypad on the N85
The keypad is flat with raised lines between each row of keys.
Slider rail
The slider mechanism is solid and well designed. There is no play in the slider and it appears to be a long lasting design.
Closer view of the keypad and slider
The keypad works quite well with decent sized numbers.
Backlighting on the N85
The bright white backlight lets you view the keypad and hardware buttons.
N85 in hand
The N85 is an almost perfect size for a mobile phone and feels great in your hand.
Nseries stacked up
Here you can view the top and left side of the N81 8GB, N96, N85, and N95.
Top view of the Nseries
The top view shows that the latest Nseries are similar with the power button and 3.5mm headset ports. The N95 has the power button only on the top.
Back of the N85 and battery
The BL-5K battery is used on the N85. The SIM card slot is located above the battery, but the battery does have to be removed to access the card slot.
Antenna in the back cover
The FM transmitter antenna is found under and around the edges of the back cover.
OLED display on the N85
The Nokia N85 has a fantastic and bright OLED display that looks great in the dark and in direct sun.

Here is a view of the folders I set up on my N85.
