Watching movies on a small display of a portable media player or mobile device isn’t always the best experience. myvu just announced the myvu Universal Edition of its personal media viewer goggles that brings big screen viewing to your portable media player. All you need is a media player with TV-out capability and the myvu viewer.

  • Back of myvu retail box

The back shows the box contents and details on the system.

  • Cables for your devices

There are cables for iPods, portable DVD players, Archos players, and more.

  • DVD/camcorder adapters

The package includes adapters and cables for connecting to a few different types of devices so you should be all set with your media player.

The myvu has a cable with a control dongle attached.

  • Front view of the myvu

There are earbuds attached to each side of the myvu that provide very good stereo sound. The goggles still allow you to look around either above or below the display view.

  • Back view of myvu

There is a comfortable nose clip on the myvu. For those that wear glasses, you can purchase a prescription clip-on that fits over the eye openings.

  • The Laforge look

No, I am not a Trekky, but this is what I look like wearing the myvu Personal Media Viewer.

  • Connected to a Nokia N95

The N95 has TV-out capability and worked well as a test media player. The iPod cable did not work, but the Archose AV cable was fine.

  • myvu control dongle

The controller has a power button, brightness, and contrast controls. It also contains a rechargeable battery that offers up to 4 hours of viewing time.

  • USB connector cover

The USB connection cover wouldn’t seal back up after being opened. The USB connection is used to charge up the myvu, which works well with the Proporta USB mobile device charger.

  • Inside view of the virtual display

I tried to capture what you can see in each eyepiece when the myvu is connected with this shot.
