LendMe notice appears on my nook

One of the key differentiations between the B&N nook and other ebook readers is the ability to lend books to your friends for a period of up to 14 days. The LendMe capability is in beta and I had the chance to test it out with my nook. Lending and receiving loaned books is simple and easy from your device.

  • Lending notice for a book

A page appears explaining that you have 7 days to respond to the LendMe request.

  • Response options

You can respond to the loan request using the touch capacitive color display on the bottom of your nook. If you select No then your friend gets their book rights back and can lend the book to someone else.

  • Accepted, now sending update

Once you accept, your nook will function wirelessly to communicate your decision.

  • Select to download the book

After confirmation with the server, you will have the option to download the book to your library.

  • Loaned book appearing in my library

After the book was loaned to me and I accepted the loan, it appeared in my library.

  • Book status - from a friend

When you view your library you will see that the book was loaned to you by a friend.

  • Options for book now in your library

You can jump right in and read the book and if you want then you can also select to purchase the title to keep in your own library.

  • Days remaining in loan

You will find the loan status in your library list and as you can see this book had 14 days remaining.

  • Lendable book on B&N store

You can see what books are able to be loaned out to other by looking for the LendMe icon in the book store.

  • Now, let's lend one from my library

I bought one of the books on the Barnes & Noble store that supports lending and then loaned it to the B&N PR person so we could test out the beta system.

  • Who do you want to lend a book to?

You need to enter a contact name and email address in order to send a book loan request.

  • Confirm loan

After you enter contact info, then you get one last confirmation to send out the loan request.
