Wibrain B1 retail box

Wibrain B1 retail box

By Matthew Miller

The Wibrain B1 is a full function Windows XP computer weighing in at just over 1 pound in a PSP-like widescreen form factor. A split QWERTY keyboard, high resolution display, fast processor, and excellent touch panel make this a compelling choice in mobility.

After opening up the box you will find a cardboard compartment that holds the slip case, Windows XP recovery CD, and Quick Start Guide.

These are the contents of the first small compartment in the retail packaging. The slip case is decent at the device fits well inside it.

You will find several buttons on the lower left of the front. The left two serve as page up and down buttons, then there are four arrow buttons, two buttons on the right for left and right mouse clicks, and volume controls at the bottom.

On the lower right you will find the extremely handy touchpad that allows you to control mouse/cursor movement on the display. This touchpad worked surprisingly well and was one of the best features of the device.

If you place your thumb halfway on the touch pad and halfway on the slider dots then you can quickly scroll up and down as well as left and right on the display.

Beautiful 1024 x 600 resolution display

The stunning display is one of the first things I noticed on the device. It is crisp and clear, but at 4.8 inches your eyes may become tired of the small fonts rather quickly.
