The Netscape.com site will transform into a hybrid news site combining elements of social bookmarking, like Yahoo’s Delicious, Digg and Slashdot. Users recommend and rank their top choices for news stories from a wide range of categories. rn
Although the Netscape.com beta is still in raw form, it does contain many graphic elements. Note the top “Hot Story.” Apparently the site isn’t afraid to take on criticism of itself.
In addition to front page stories, the beta site features a list of 30 channels focusing on subjects ranging from religion to sex.
The first impressions of the beta site remind many people of Digg.com.
The beta News channel has a top story selected by editors that leads the page–followed by reader contributions.
The Netscape beta has a category dedicated to personal and love stories.
