Design prototypes for future Hitachi camcorders on display this week at the CEATEC trade fair in Makuhari, near Tokyo. The device on the right will have a Blu-ray disc in it. The one that looks like a shaver, on the left, is designed to have flash memory. Several manufacturers want to bring cheaper models (priced at $1,000 or less) to the market next year.

Hitachi?s Blu-ray recorder. Although the machine is fully operable, the company doesn?t want to release it until the price is closer to $900 U.S.
Two remotes? Yes, that?s what Hitachi ships with its DVD burners with hard drives. Sometimes you want the simple one and other times you want all the features.
