    More than 65 new cars from around the world will be unveiled for the first to the public at the Paris Motor Show 2006. New cars, in all shapes and sizes from all over the globe, will park on the showroom floor from the press opening on Sept. 28 until Oct. 15. The show will officially open to the public on Sept. 30.\r\n\r\n

    CNET’s Car Technology site will provide coverage of the show with blogs, slide shows and video from Paris.

  • China’s Great Wall Motors presents the Wingle during the press preview on Sept. 28.

  • Venturi of France shows off an electric car that is made for the daily commute in urban areas.\r\n\r\n

    Venturi is also showing off a solar car, photo upcoming.

  • The Porche 911 makes its world premiere at the Paris Auto show. Porche claims that the 911 GT3 RS model (left) will give the driving experience of a sports car but meets the requirements as a street-legal racing car. The Porche 911 GT3 RS holds a 415-horsepower, dry-sump, 3.6 liter flat-Six engine.

  • Chrysler takes the curtain off its 2007 Sebring, which comes complete with a built-in 20GB hard drive for turning the car into a mobile media library.

  • Fiat unveils a concept car that burns three different types of fuel. The Multipla Multi-Eco will run on regular gas, a mixture of gas and ethanol (E85 or 15 percent petrol and 85 percent bio-ethanol), and methane.

  • The Volkswagen 3-door hatchback IROC concept is slated to replace the Scirocco (note iroc in the middle of Scirocco) and is about the size of the Golf. Volkswagen calls its design a “purebred sports car” as opposed to a classic coupe.

  • Mazda is bringing its CX-7 to Europe where it will debut at the Paris Auto Show. The five-seat sport-utility-vehicle is expected to become available in Europe next year. However, the 7-seat version that is available in the U.S. will probably not be sold in Europe.

  • Korea’s Kia pro Cee’d (pronouced “seed”) makes its world debut at the Paris Auto Show. The third-generation Cee’d is built to be sportier than the earlier models.
