TechRepublic’s camera phone challenge: Guilty pleasures
Image 1 of 13
Chocolate cupcakes with pink sprinkles
ntThere were two photos that tied for 2nd place, and they both were taken by TR member soozn with an iPhone 4. “Mmm cupcakes, delicious at the best of times. These were cooked and iced with pink to let friends know I’m having a baby girl. Most people didn’t get the symbolism when i uploaded them to Facebook.”
Sunday morning pancakes
ntThe other 2nd place photo by TR member soozn with an iPhone 4 is of her “Sunday morning weakness – pancakes, ice cream, maple syrup, and berries. Yes, it is making me drool!”
Typical geek breakfast
ntThe 3rd place photo was taken by TR member robo_dev with an iPhone 3GS. “Typical geek ‘guilty pleasure’ breakfast: Hot mug of coffee and a sandwich, my Fluke digital multimeter, and the serial interface specifications document for my powerware ups. The gray cable is an unknown serial cable that I will ‘pinout’ with the DMM. Normal people may read the paper at breakfast, I’m as likely to resolder a connector or test a cable while eating.”
Working from a coffee shop
ntThis photo was taken by TR member Artanyis with a Motorola Crush. “Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea in Roanoke, VA, and my laptop as I work. This is a guilty pleasure because I should probably be giving the people I work for more face time occasionally, but since I am a contract technician and support engineer, I get to choose where I work and to an extent when I work, especially when things are busy. By working from a coffee shop, I get to relax, enjoy the surroundings, have good tea, and still get work done that my customers / employers value me for.”
Favorite local burger joint
ntThis photo was taken by TR member JohnMcGrew with a Palm 755p. “My guilty pleasure is sneaking out from the office to my favorite local burger joint for a cheeseburger, fries, and quality time with my morning newspaper. My wife usually does not approve.”
Punch buggy pleasures
ntThis photo was taken by TR member dan.phillips with a Blackberry Curve 3G. “Pictures of punch buggies!”
Guilty puppy pleasure
ntThis photo was taken by TR member dan.phillips with a Blackberry Curve 3G. “My black lab, Shadow!”
Unusual entrees
ntThis photo was taken by TR member larrytom2 with a 1st generation Droid. “One my great pleasures is dining on unusual entrees. This is a whole bass grilled at a Mexican restaurant in Fort Worth, TX.”
Bacon Croissants at Jardine Bakery
ntThis photo was taken by TR member rethavs with an iPhone 3GS. “My most guilty pleasure in Cape Town has to be the ‘Bacon Croissants at Jardine Bakery’ (@jardinebakery) on Bree Street. I don’t know many Twitterers and business people in the CBD who have not discovered Jason (@captainbreadsa) and his little gems. Lunchtime is a jostle for their amazing sandwiches, but by then it’s usually too late for the croissants he became famous for. Capetonians from all over gather here for a breakfast chat over coffee and croissants every morning.
n
nt”Sadly, Jardines will be closing soon, but we hope not to loose Jason and his exceptional skills! Go on, you know you want to try it… there’s nothing like a bacon croissant and a cappuccino to warm the heart of a Capetonian!”
Swedish Halva cake
ntThis photo was taken by TR member simpsonjon with an HTC Desire (how appropriate!) on T-Mobile. “The sweetest Swedish Halva cake for the sweetest Swedish girl!”
Espresso coffee
ntThis photo was taken by TR member vmsrosa with a Blackberry Bold 9700. “My home espresso coffee machine, after having taken a very nice espresso for me and my wife. We are both addicted to espresso coffee, and that’s the reason i included it in this subject photos.”
Palmier with cream and almonds
ntThis photo was taken by TR member vmsrosa with a Blackberry Bold 9700. “A delicious pastry cake I simply cannot resist, and it’s only available at a coffee shop near the place where i work (it is a palmier with cream on one of the sides and pieces of almonds scattered on top of the cream). Yes, it is very caloric, but when they have them on display and i happen to stop at the coffee shop, it’s almost guaranteed that I’ll eat one. I’ll have to compensate later at the gym … :).”
Spoiling the grandaughter
ntThis photo was taken by TR member wizard with a T-mobile G2 Android. “If there’s any ‘guilt’ to this guilty pleasure submission, it’s about spoiling our 6-year-old granddaughter rotten then sending her home to her parents!”
