People who have Macs and Windows Mobile devices have a syncing solution that actually turns out to be much more functional and powerful than the ActiveSync client found on Windows PCs. Mark/Space just released their latest version that adds support for Windows Mobile 6, improves SMS log functionality, and many more new features.
Installation manager
You can install applications from your Mac to your Windows Mobile device using the .cab files and the installation manager.
Shopping for applications from The Missing Sync
You can access and shop for applications from the Mark/Space branded software store right in The Missing Sync.
Entourage settings
You can specify what types of data you want synced and how you want the data synced between your device and Entourage.
Bookmarks settings
You can choose to have your Safari bookmarks synced to your Windows Mobile device ala Apple iPhone functionality. However, you can select just to sync specific bookmark folders too.
Calendar settings
If you use the Mac Calendar instead of Entourage you can setup how you desire your data to sync using this configuration page. There are a few options for synchronization and as you can see they are more limiting than those of Entourage.
Back up and view your call log
You can have your call log synced to your Mac, which can be very helpful if you are a person who bills by the job and phone call.
Contacts sync settings
Again, if you do not use Entourage and instead use the Contacts application on your Mac you can manage your synchronization options here. As you can see they are again a bit more limited than those of Entourage.
File sync settings
This is a MAJOR feature of The Missing Sync that is not found in ActiveSync. You can sync ANY folder on your Mac to your Windows Mobile device and choose where to sync it on your device.
Music sync settings
Syncing to your non-DRM iTunes collection is quick and easy with The Missing Sync. I use this for all my podcasts and am pleased with all of the settings options that allow you to manage your storage card.
Notes synchronization
I like to sync to my hosted Exchange server, but it doesn’t sync Notes. Fortunately, The Missing Sync does allow you to sync your Windows Mobile Notes to Entourage, Mark/Space Notebook, or Yojimbo.
Photos synchronization settings - export
Many Windows Mobile devices have digital cameras and now you can easily export your photos to your Mac. They can even be removed after tranferring to save space on your storage card.
Photos synchronization settings - import
You can easily transfer photos from your iPhoto collection to your Windows Mobile device and select where to store those photos. Photos can be scaled down to save space and a schedule for syncing can be established.
SMS sync settings
Like the call log, you can sync your text messages to your Mac computer for archiving and storage.
Task synchronization settings
The last non-Entourage PIM sync option is for Tasks. You can sync your tasks to your Mac and there are a few settings to customize this synchronization functionality.
Video settings - export
Most Windows Mobile digital cameras can also capture video content and The Missing Sync lets you send these to your Mac with ease. You can designate where to import from and where to place on your Mac with the settings being very similar to the photo export settings.
Video settings - import
The Missing Sync can encode and tranfer video files from your Mac to your Windows Mobile device. I found this to be a much easier option for getting compatible videos on my device. You simply drag and drop your video files too.
TimeSync settings
If your carrier doesn’t already support it, you can sync your Mac clock to your device clock.
