Windows version and unexpected shutdowns
Out of the box and starting up for the first time, I got an error that the system had unexpectedly shutdown. On the other hand, the Windows version has been updated and now has an icon in the taskbar.nn

Bluetooth enhancements
Bluetooth has been optimised and changed to allow easy access to your devices, and works across any Bluetooth enabled device.nn

Control Panel logo set in stone
The Control Panel has had this logo in since 7048, but this has now been set in stone. The Start menu looks consistent with previous builds however.nn

Simplified device removal
Now it is much easier to eject devices as you know them all by name. Instead of giving just drive letters, a small description is given of each, so you now know which one to remove and which ones not to.nn

Added Hardware tab
A Hardware tab has been added to all hardware devices, saving you a trip into the Device Manager.nn

Jump lists have been finished, and now show favicons which are attached to most web pages for easy access.nn

You’ll find when going through Devices and Printers that all the icons have been changed and are reflected in this build. Even the Bluetooth device icon has been updated.nn

Organised views
For those who might not have noticed, tick boxes replace icons in a lot of the menus. However it’s not always easy to see which options you are unticking if the icon isn’t there. This is shown in the Organise menu in Windows Explorer, which doesn’t make it clear which navigation/details pane is being removed.nn

Networking printers
It’s now much easier to connect to network printers. With just a quick search, Windows 7 will pick up all the printers on the network.nn

Online ID support
As seen in previous builds, online ID support which is meant to link Windows 7 with services on the web has been updated. However, this is soley dependent on Windows Live ID Assistant (which is in beta), and after release, an SDK will be released also to help others connect their authentication services with the operating system.nn

Reorganising the notification area
As with previous builds, taskbar application shifting has been enabled so you can rearrange your applications as you wish. Now you can do the same with your notification icons, easily allowing those to be seen and those to you wish to hide.nn

Right click menu in Computer
Right clicking a drive in Computer now allows you to lock a flash drive or SD card with BitLocker-To-Go instantly, as well as open it up as a portable device.nn

Improved theme support
There are more backgrounds in Windows 7 than any other previous version of Windows, plus themes which are automatically applied depending on your regional location.nn

Improved troubleshooting support
If there’s anything wrong with your computer or something doesn’t seem to work just right, the in-built troubleshooter will try its best to fix things for you. Failing that, it’ll give you a whole load of options for you to try.nn

Type by "artist" in file types
Now you have the option to organise your music by artist, which allows you to listen to a certain artist rather than album.nn

The Welcome screen, somewhat insignificant in the grand scheme of things, now looks different and in the full contuinity of the new operating system.nn

Windows Vault is an existing technology in Windows, but now is expanded to include local usernames and passwords, network and online identities.nn

Aero Basic revamped
Aero Basic doesn’t appear to have visually changed too much, but has been modified slightly to work confluently with the rest of the user interface; expanded taskbar etc.nn

System performance
System performance ratings have been increased slightly since the Windows Vista release, because hardware has become better and more advanced. This now allows hardware scores to go above 5.nn

System panel
Nothing new has really been added or changed except the new bit of text which tells you the capability of the device – whether it has touch for example. The main Windows logo is set to change in later builds, but this isn’t confirmed yet.nn
