Research: The complexities of multicloud deployments are often worth the benefits, even in uncertain times
Results from the latest TechRepublic Premium survey suggest that businesses continue to deploy multicloud solutions, but the IT pros who support them are uncertain how they’ll change in the future.
From the introduction:
Heading into the third year of the COVID-19 global pandemic, industries, businesses, consumers and the information technology professionals who support them are all understandably uncertain of what the future will bring. This unnerving mood is only exacerbated by the periodic discovery of mutated virus variants like Delta and Omicron, which spread quickly and rethreaten economies with more slowdowns and disruptions. Couple those major worries with worldwide supply-chain issues and inflation and it is no wonder businesses are cautious in their decision making.
It is against this backdrop that TechRepublic Premium surveyed its readers to find out how COVID-19 has affected their overall cloud strategy. We asked how companies managed multicloud deployments and costs in 2021 and then compared those results to similar surveys conducted in 2019 and 2020. Results from the 2021 survey also suggest that while businesses continue to deploy multicloud solutions, the IT professionals who support them are uncertain how those multicloud systems will change in the future.
Editor’s note: We received 47 completed responses for this survey, which is smaller than previous TechRepublic Premium surveys and significantly fewer than we prefer. Due to the small sample size, we encourage readers to note the number of responses to each question.
