Apple has another product launch scheduled for October, but it may not come with the familiar keynote presentation.

The company confirmed its Oct. 28 “Pro and Tell” event in Los Angeles after marketing chief Greg Joswiak teased the gathering on Oct. 19. Rather than announcing a conventional livestreamed presentation, Apple has invited journalists to an in-person product experience. The format raises questions about when new products will be announced and how the public will see them.

Reports suggest Apple could announce new Macs, including a touchscreen MacBook Pro, around the Oct. 28 gathering. Apple has not confirmed the product lineup or release dates.

Apple’s October 28 event takes a different approach

The media experience begins at 10 a.m. Pacific in Los Angeles, where invited journalists will have an opportunity to examine Apple’s new products.

According to Macworld’s reporting on the invitations, Apple is using an “Apple Experience” format rather than advertising a traditional keynote. The company has not announced a public livestream.

Apple may release product announcements, specifications and promotional videos through its website while journalists publish hands-on impressions separately. The company has not confirmed that sequence or whether all announcements will arrive simultaneously.

Apple used a comparable media-focused approach for its Oct. 13 “Welcome Home” launch in New York, as MacRumors explained. The October smart home announcement introduced the HomeView smart display, updated Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2.

The October 28 gathering follows Apple’s September hardware launch, which introduced the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo and updated accessories. Together, the announcements extend Apple’s fall product schedule beyond its flagship smartphone releases.

What remains unknown before the product announcements

The biggest anticipated reveal is Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro, although its inclusion has not been officially confirmed.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, as cited by 9to5Mac, has reported that Apple is preparing redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with OLED touchscreens. An M6-powered standard MacBook Pro, updated iMac and refreshed iPad mini are also expected.

Those reports describe potential hardware announcements, not a finalized event agenda. Apple has not disclosed which products journalists will receive for demonstrations or whether every rumored device will be introduced on Oct. 28.

Software details could also become part of the announcements. Apple’s macOS 27 release introduced interface and AI-related changes in September, but the company has not explained how a touchscreen MacBook would work with existing Mac applications.

Anyone following the launch should watch Apple’s official newsroom and product pages for confirmed specifications, prices and availability. Media demonstrations may provide additional information about design and everyday usability, but hands-on impressions will not replace independent performance testing.

Apple has confirmed where and when journalists will gather. Whether the company follows that schedule with immediate product announcements, videos or additional presentations remains to be seen.
