Just days before Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, a new leak has offered the clearest look yet at the company’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup, including a redesigned standard Fold model with a noticeably wider outer display.
The latest images, first shared by well-known leaker Evan Blass, show Samsung moving away from the narrow cover screen found on previous Galaxy Z Fold devices. The new design appears shorter and wider, making the phone look and function more like a conventional smartphone when closed.
Marketing images obtained by Android Headlines also showcase the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 together, while revealing online-exclusive colors, including Pistachio for the Fold 8 and Mint for the Flip 8.
Specs point to meaningful hardware upgrades
According to leaked marketing materials published by Blass and additional specifications reported by WinFuture, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a 7.6-inch foldable AMOLED display alongside a 5.5-inch outer screen, both supporting up to 120Hz refresh rates.
The device is expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor and include 12GB of RAM, with up to 16GB available on higher-capacity models. The regular Fold 8 reportedly features a dual rear camera system with 50-megapixel wide and 50-megapixel ultrawide cameras, while 10-megapixel selfie cameras appear on both the inner and outer displays.
Battery capacity is expected to reach 4,800 mAh with support for 45W wired charging. Samsung’s leaked promotional material also advertises “up to 26 hours of video playback.”
The higher-end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is rumored to include an 8-inch inner display, a 200-megapixel main camera, a new 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor, a 10-megapixel telephoto camera, and a larger 5,000 mAh battery.
Samsung appears focused on reducing the crease
One of the biggest reported changes is underneath the display. Samsung has adopted a titanium-based display substrate designed to make the folding screen more rigid while reducing the visibility of the crease. The company is also using a micro-perforated titanium plate beneath the display to better support the flexible OLED panel around the hinge.
The move comes as foldable manufacturers continue competing to minimize one of the category’s most persistent design compromises.
Production plans hint at Samsung’s priorities
Samsung may also be betting heavily on the redesigned Fold model.
According to PhoneArena, citing leaker Ice Universe, Samsung now plans to manufacture about 2.8 million units of the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8, exceeding the reported production target of 2 million units for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is reportedly planned at 1.5 million units.
If accurate, the figures suggest Samsung expects stronger demand for the redesigned Fold than originally anticipated.

What this could mean for buyers
The wider cover display could address one of the biggest complaints about Samsung’s book-style foldables by making everyday tasks, such as typing, messaging, and browsing, more comfortable without unfolding the device.
However, the standard Fold 8 appears to make a trade-off by dropping the dedicated telephoto camera in favor of a simpler dual-camera setup. In contrast, premium camera hardware remains exclusive to the Ultra model. Buyers may therefore need to decide whether improved usability or flagship photography matters more.
Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and other new devices during its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22.
