Samsung’s next Unpacked event could reshape more than its foldable lineup.
Samsung confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on July 22 in London, where the company is expected to introduce the latest additions to its Galaxy lineup. The event begins at 2 p.m. BST (9 a.m. EDT) and will be livestreamed through Samsung’s website, Samsung Newsroom, and YouTube.
In its invitation, Samsung said the new devices will build on its leadership in foldables by combining AI-powered features with new hardware designs. The teaser also carries the tagline “A New Shape Unfolds,” fueling speculation that Samsung is preparing its biggest foldable redesign in years.
A redesigned Galaxy Z Fold may steal the show
The strongest rumors point to Samsung unveiling three foldable smartphones.
The biggest talking point is expected to be a redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 8, which rumors suggest will feature a wider, shorter book-style design rather than Samsung’s traditional narrow foldable format. The new aspect ratio is expected to make the cover display feel more like a standard smartphone while improving the viewing experience on the larger inner screen.

Alongside it, Samsung is widely expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which would reportedly replace the standard Fold as the lineup’s flagship. Leaks suggest larger displays, a bigger battery, upgraded cameras, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
The more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 8 is also expected to arrive with a familiar clamshell design, but with refinements that reportedly include a slimmer body, a less noticeable crease, updated processors, and incremental camera improvements.
New Galaxy Watches could join the lineup
Wearables are also expected to receive attention during the event.
Industry reports suggest Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Watch 9 alongside the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, continuing its smartwatch lineup without introducing a new Classic model this year.

Rumored upgrades include faster processors, improved battery life, brighter displays, and new health and fitness capabilities. Some reports also suggest the Ultra 2 will be Samsung’s first smartwatch with 5G support, though that remains unconfirmed. Software is also expected to play a role, with One UI Watch updates likely accompanying the new hardware.
Galaxy Glasses may offer Samsung’s AI vision
One of the most anticipated announcements could extend beyond phones altogether.
Reports suggest Samsung would reveal, or at least preview, its first Galaxy Glasses, a lightweight pair of AI-powered smart glasses built on Android XR with Google’s Gemini AI integration.

Unlike augmented reality headsets, the rumored glasses are expected to look like conventional eyewear while relying on cameras, microphones, speakers, and voice interactions instead of a built-in display.
Leaks suggest the wearable could compete directly with products such as Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, though Samsung has yet to confirm whether the glasses will launch during Unpacked or simply receive an early preview.
AI is expected to play a central role
Beyond hardware, Samsung made it clear that AI will remain a major focus.
The company says its upcoming Galaxy devices will deliver more personalized and adaptive experiences powered by AI, continuing its push to integrate intelligent features across its ecosystem. Samsung is expected to showcase additional capabilities for One UI 9, alongside expanded Gemini-powered experiences on its latest devices.

What this launch could mean for Samsung
This year’s Galaxy Unpacked arrives at an important moment for Samsung.
Foldable phones remain one of the few smartphone categories where Samsung has established a significant lead, but competition continues to intensify as more manufacturers introduce thinner designs, improved hinges, and new form factors.
The rumored wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 suggests Samsung may be responding to changing consumer preferences rather than simply upgrading internal components. If the redesign improves usability without adding significant bulk, it could help address one of the biggest criticisms of book-style foldables.
The event also highlights Samsung’s broader strategy beyond smartphones. New watches and potential AI glasses would further expand its connected ecosystem while reinforcing its emphasis on AI across devices.
For consumers, the biggest question will be whether the new hardware offers meaningful everyday improvements that justify premium pricing, especially as foldables continue to carry some of the highest price tags in the smartphone market.
