Adaptec SCSI and IOMEGA Zip conflict

By eastbr ·
I have a workstation that needs to be used for multiple tasks. To that end I have installed an Adaptec SCSI card to control an attached scanner, an IOMEGA Zip 100, and of course a CD rom drive.

The problem is the Zip drive is claiming an i/o port range that overlaps the SCSI. Can they co-exist?

What do you mean I/O Port range? Do you mean SCSI ID number? IRQ?

Be more specific

Check to make sure all your IDs are different and that your terminators are also correct. Is the CD the last component on the inside? Then it needs terminated. If the Zip is, it needs terminated.

Check in the Device Manager for Hardware conflicts. There shouldn't be any because the zip, cd, and scanner all work through the SCSI card. This card has the control over what IO is doing. My SCSI card is set at I/O D400 - D4FF with an IRQ of 15. Now don't forget that IRQ 14 & 15 are most likely reserved for hard drives. Also in the Device Manager, check to see that the Zip drive is set to "init 13 unit" under the settings tab.

I would still think it is an ID conflict. During boot press the CTRL-A and get into setup to view your devices.
