Click on "Start" then "Run" and type MMC. Press enter. In the Console1 Windows select "Console" then "Add/Remove Snap-In..." In the Add/Remove Snap-In window, click on "Add". In the Add Standalone Snap-In window, select Active Directory Users and Computers. Click on "Add". Click "Close". In the Add/Remove Snap-In window, Click on "OK". You're done........

open up AD users and computers localy, right click DOMAIN and properties, check your group policy has not been set to deny access to this snapin and permissions set for remote administration.

remember that only Adminisitrator rights will allow you access to this snapin, whether it be localy or remotely.

hope this helps!

I have not found any restriction on my user name and when I login with terminal services (with my login)I can access the Active directory Users and computers snap in. The Servers were added or upgraded to Windows 2000 server after My work station. Do I have to install the snapin?

Add Active Directory-comp/users to MMC

I assume you're talking about installing this on your workstation so that you can manage it from the workstation, not the server. You need to put the Windows 2000 Server CD in your workstation and run the adminpak.msi file from the /setup/i386 folder. That will install all of the Active Directory management tools on the workstation. Then, you can run mmc.exe and add them by clicking Console/Add/Remove Snap-in. Once you've got whatever tools you want to use added to the console, save it as aseparate file(i.e., Domain Admin.msc) file so that it will be set up for your use. Hope this helps!
