Using the o/s Windows 95, my IBM 300GL computer shut's down without clicking start, shutdown. You could be performing something in the office and the computer just's shutdown and restarts or a black screen appears.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a software problem caused by a corrupted screensaver that activated at the same time as the power management settings for dropping to the standby mode. Try changing power management schemes or the settings on the screensaver.

If the Suspend option doesn't work as it should, or you simply want
to remove the option from the Start Menu, then use this tweak.

Open your registry and find the key and value below.

Change the value of 'APMMenuSuspend' to equal '00', restart the
machine and the suspend option should have disappeared.

Registry Settings:
Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\Root\*PNP0C05\0000]
Value Name: APMMenuSuspend
Data Type: REG_BINARY
Data: (00 = not visible, 01 = visible)
