0x80040017 Product activation code error

Computer does not boot...and can't find origional XP boot disk...any alternatives?

But if it isn't if this is a Brand Name System you can contact it's maker and buy in a Recovery Set so you can reload it or check to see if it has a Recovery Partition built into the HDD.

Or you can buy a XP License and OEM Disc if you don't have any possibility of finding the old XP Disc.

Or you can scrap Windows all together and use one of the Free OS's available here

They are your only options unless you take it to a Shop and pay them to repair it.

OEM install? Who is the vendor?

This may make a difference. What is the full model number?

Install or update anything else recently? An AV or firewall may prevent connection to the net. Try unplugging from the network to see if you can get Windows to load so you can make any adjustments. (Computer is booting just fine, WPA just won't let Windows load.)

Ring MS, or the OEM vendor of the machine.
