1 network connection, 2 devices

I need to connect a windows 2000 pro workstation and a netport print server to my w2k network. I have 1 network connection for this. I had the computer and print server connected using an SMC Etherez hub 3605T 10mb. I have tried a linksys 10/100 8 port hub also. I still cannot connect. If I plug the network connection directly into the workstation, I am able to get connected. I've also tried the hubs without the printserver being connected. Still no connection. The network card is a 3com 3c920 integrated fast ethernet. Thank you

Almost certainly what's wrong is the cable/port you are using. You can't connect a hub just like a network card. If you are not connecting the hub to the "uplink" port, you need to use a "Crossover" cable.

You can use a regular cable if you're connected to the uplink port. Make sure that the uplink port is actually set to uplink, because on a lot of hubs, this can be set by a little switch.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
