I will be purchasing the data contained in OJIN(Oregon Judicial Information Network) from The State of Oregon. Everything which has occurred in Oregon State Courts since the late 80?s will be contained. The data will be sent to me on 27 DVD?s, so in excess of 100 gigs of raw data in a fixed length format, will be arriving. They sent a sample data file and 2 Excel files which explain field names and lengths. Once the database has been created, it will NEVER BE UPDATED.
I really need answers to the following:
1. What type of database should I focus on? Is there a desktop database I can buy and then find someone proficient to build it?
2. What can I expect to pay for this database creation?
3. Can the work be accomplished remotely?
4. How long will the job take?
I realize that my ignorance is glaringly obvious, can someone enlighten me, please?
